Faith Formation

St Josephs Catholic Church offers religious education for children, youth, and adults through regular classes, bible studies, retreats and other presentations. Religious education strives to promote the knowledge of faith and moral formation. Foremost, it seeks to inspire all to live as disciples of Christ by participation in the liturgy of the Church, through an active prayer life and service to community.

Religious education classes include preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation) and Confession.

All catechists that are teaching in our yearly programs are encouraged to get certified by the Diocese of Fresno and to attend workshops for their continuing education and spiritual growth. Catechists, who are working with children, also participate in the mandatory diocesan safe environment program.

The Four Pillars of the Catholic Church are defined by the Catechism of the Church. Catholics should be formed in all four of these areas, both in knowledge and in experience.
